My love for Etsy August 29, 2008

So Im sure many of you know what Etsy is… here is a link in case you are wondering ETSY It is this great site with all these hand made or custom made items that people are selling… I actually got my hair piece (photo will be below) from a designer on Etsy. Sooo.. there have been a few things that I have been trying to decide on on such as, if Morgan should have some cool custom made boutineer, or just have the 5 dollar one from the florist?  Any advice on that?  Also, I really want one of those “wedding orbs”  So I have posted below one that I have found on Etsy that is really cute, and a photo of the other wedding orb… I think I need to have a vote on this one!  Also, this I just thought was really fun… do you remember the “cootie catchers” from when we were young?  Well someone will make them specialized with your names and details from your relationship and you can have them on all the table at the wedding…FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

Rebecca and Matt~ a wedding by Roee Dori August 28, 2008

Hi All! Been a few days   I was off in Rhode Island shooting a wedding and then before that I was celebrating my BIRTHDAY!!! (August 23rd)  I love birthdays!!!

Anyways, a few weeks back my associate Roee photographed a wonderful couple, Rebecca and Matt. So you will never believe how Roee ended up shooting their wedding.  Last September, I was photographing Matt’s college buddys wedding, David ~ from the slideshow Jennifer and David.  Well, all night long I keep looking over at this one guest, thinking, I know her, she looks SO familiar! Well, at some point during the evening I asked her… “where are you from originally”  and she says Bergen County, nj.  I then say to her, you when to Highlands (my HS) and she says back ~ “Wait a second, your Vanessa ____’s best friend! I used to be her doubles partner in tennis!” And their you have it… Becca and Matt.  So when they got engaged, they came to me and wanted me to shoot their wedding… I was booked, but it turned out they loved Roee and his work ~ so we got to keep Becca and Matt!

Hannah and Gary got Married! August 20, 2008

I met Hannah and Gary about a year before their wedding.  They flew in from Liverpool, England to plan their wedding here in the wonderful “Big Apple” . They both got ready at The Bryant Park hotel ~ love that place!!  and decided to get married and have their reception with about 60 of their closest family and friends (most of whom flew over from England at Penthouse 15 which is part of loft 11 and looked amazing thanks to help of Hollie Holmes of Exquisite Affairs Productions They had some of the most heartfelt, funny toasts I have heard in a long time and you can really tell that they are madly in love with each other and just ‘get’ each other. In bigger stacey ilyse photo news, I took some photos of my cousin’s kids… and later today or tomorrow I plan to upload a bunch of them… I just can narrow it down to less then 30! There are too many adorable ones of them all… and of the baby!!! SOOOO cute. I want to eat him up!

On fun wedding updates, I sent out our OOT invites, and I am sending out our local guest’s invites on thursday!!! Aaannnnddd according to theknot I have 69 days to go! how scary is that!! Oh, I also got the bracelete I plan to wear that day… and it was on sale for $20!!

This weekend was great! It was one of the first weekends I had NOTHING wedding or photography related to do…. sooo my lovely Vanessa planned a rafting (not a white water rafting) trip on the deleware…It was GREAT! It only took 1.5 hrs to get there from NYC and the weather was PERFECT! I would highly recommend doing this with some friends if you get a chance… we used this company called adventure sport.  it was great.. As soon as some pictures show up on facebook I will post them to my blog.

END OF SUMMER/SPRING SPECIALS!! August 12, 2008

Hi All!

So I have been inspired lately… As you saw on my post below I recently took some wonderful photos of Sheri, Keith and their 2 girls Allison and Rachel.  I also just took some photos of my wonderful cousin Hillary and her family. I ALSO have been inspired by some other photogs. and their beautiful engagement photos… also, I am enjoying the weather, the summer, and just feel the need to be “artsy” and try some new things. SOOOOOOOO with all that said, I am running some specials.

I would love if any mommies who are pregnant, just had a baby OR if you just want some fun new photos of you and your kids (any age!!!) to come forward and let me know.

I would love to photograph you all for 1.5hrs + the disk of images and 2 signed 8×10’s for only $250 ~ I normal would charge $375 my only stipulation is that you must be open minded to having some fun journalistic, artistic photos being taken… also I will use some interesting effects afterwards.. but dont worry, I promise you will have more then enough photos to find some you just LOVE!

For those of you who are engaged.. I have some cool idea’s that I would love love love to try out but just need some willing participants… like I mentioned before, I promise you will have MORE then enough photos to find some you will love, but if you get in touch and we go over some of the idea’s and you are down, that would be great!

The special I am running for the engagement photos are: 1.5 hrs of shooting + the disk of images and 2 signed 8×10’s for $375 (my current price for enagement photos is now $500)

Im shredin it August 12, 2008

So I just did my first day of the 30-day shred… I will say, Im SOOOO glad it is on 25 min!  It wasnt the most impossible workout I ever did, but it was hard, and I want to do it well…

On another topic, I started to pull out my 4×5 pressman camera to use some of my polaroid film… only to find that some of it is all messed up! and now I am sooo bummed, because polaroid decided to stop making their film that works with the 4×5 cameras.  ALSO.. their is this other type of film that is called pull and peel, and I have all these great old slides of from my parents (my mom was into photo too! and I am not scrambling to make prints of the ones I like~ of course I can scan the slides, but these photos have so much more personality!

Keith and his ladies August 7, 2008

I had the honor of photographing a former client’s family the other weekend.  Keith, Sheri, Allison and Rachel all drove up from souther ‘jerz just to let me take some photos of them all.  We had a great time.  1st we headed over to the Ridgewood Duck Pond for some playground action, then we hit up Haagen Daz (before lunch! and then lastly ~ before Rachel got too cranky we headed over for a brief session on the lawn in Ridgewood.  It was SO wonderful to see them all again! I shot Keith’s sister Tracy’s wedding I think 2 years ago… and while we were all together Sheri and Keith told me that Tracy and Kay had a BABY!!!!! They named her Ruby! YAH AND CONGRATS TO TRACY AND KAY!!!!!

anyways, here are some of my MANY favorites from that morning. Thank Keith and Sheri for being so great and coming to northern nj just to spend time with me and my camera!

been MIA August 7, 2008

Hi all.

I know, I know. I have been MIA for a while now. I am trying SO hard to be good at this blogging thing… it is just hard! I have yet to find the fine line between wanting the blog to be personal and about my wonderful clients weddings… so hopefully I will figure it out along the way!

Here are some updates about MY wedding.. in case you are interested!

-my bridal shower, which is being thrown by my mom’s best friend, Lucia is taking place at her beautiful home down in Spring Lake… is only ONE MONTH AWAY exactly from today!

-I decided to sign up for the “pilates promise” at Re:ab pilates down on bleeker and elizabeth.  the pilates promise is when you have 30 private sessions and you do them within 10 weeks ~ which comes out to 3 sessions a week! it costs about a bigillion dollars, but out of all the work out stuff out there, the only one I have ever been able to REALLY commit to has been pilates.  There is something oddly rewarding about doing it. I am REALLY not into running and aerobic classes.  I always felt like a fool doing them, or that I wasnt doing something right and in return I always ended up hurting myself! But with pilates it is more about training your body to do things and correctly (by pilates standards)… which I can understand and appreciate

So I am doing the “pilates promise” and also I purchased the 30-day shred which I have yet to start… but plan on starting next tuesday.  I will give you all an update as to how it goes.  Has anyone used it?  Seen results?? let me know.

-morgan got his custom made pumas, which he is planning on wearing for the reception. we decided for our groomsmen’s gifts that we would get them both custom made puma’s of their liking and they will wear them at the wedding

- oh the most fun thing we decided to do, Im SOOOOO excited for.  you decided to rent an old fashion photobooth.. WOOT WOOT!!! we are renting it from classic photo booth you should check out their prices. we are getting our 4 strip b&w booth for 4 hours for under $1500 which is AWESOME. I cant wait to see it!

On other notes… I am trying to decide if I should go to this workshop in NOLA which takes place oct5-8 it is close to the wedding.. so im on the fence about it.  the workshop is called imagex

I do have some great photos to post, but I am being quite lazy about it.  I PROMISE I will have some good stuff to show by next week.
