My wedding hair April 27, 2008

Filed under: photography related, weddings — staceyilyse @ 3:32 pm

Hello all!

This past thursday I went over to one of my most FAVORITE people’s salons. Stacey Lyn Weinsteins… she is the owner of Once Upon A bride (ouab.com) and Violet Salon. Stacey is one of the sweetest most wonderful people I know and I absolutely adore her and think she knows how to truly make you shine on your wedding day! :)

So I went over just to say hi and go over some hair stuff for my own wedding ~ since I would not have anyone else do my hair! we talked about my birdcage veil… the need for keeping it curly (McMorg loves the curls!!) and also wanting to put something pretty in to add a little sparkle.

It was so fun and easy… mainly because when you know someone knows how to do their job there is no need to spend 18million years fussing with it! So it was great…Like myself Stacey and I both agree… I trust you to do your job and you trust me to do mine!

So here are some very basic idea shots that we took… I want it to look romantic, a little dramatic, not TOO perfect… we plan on getting together sometime once I get my veil to officially see how it will look.

She also knows I want to have somewhat dramatic make up since I dont ever wear any… so that will be fun! I will be meeting with Ida ~ another AMAZING person who is a friend of mine to do my make up in may! WOOT WOOT!

Sooo here are the goofy photos stacey took for me :)

GOT OUR INVITES! April 22, 2008

Filed under: Random, weddings — staceyilyse @ 2:30 pm

Yah!!!!

So I know we ordered them on the early side…. BUT costco.com was having a sale on the invites we wanted so we just went for it! And we got them back today!!!!!!! I was slightly annoyed because something happened with the order and they “forgot” about my invites… but after 6 phone calls we got our invites over nighted ~ free of charge AND $100 credit back to our credit card!!! WOOT WOOT!!!! i would still recommend costco for their price and even though they were a slight pain on the phone I never had to wait to talk to someone and they did get the problem resolved :) Im sooo excited!! Now I might need to order 25 more! AHHH!!! Here is what they look like… but with our names and different text.  They VERY simple, but modern and classy at the same time.  The font looks more greenish-gold online but the gold in person is REALLY nice and has a bit of glimmer to it :)  SOOOO HAPPY!!!

Adrienne & Sean April 18, 2008

So about 2 weeks or so ago Roee and I shot this wonderful wedding for Adrienne and Sean.  We met them at their apt. for some last minute getting ready photos where we learned that Adrienne got her dress from The Bridal Garden in NYC ~ the best part about purchasing your dress from them is that they are the only non-profit bridal boutique in NYC, and you can get dresses from 50-75% off AND this is the best part!  ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT EDUCATION FOR NYC KIDS! I love that!!! Well, after hearing about Adriennes beautiful dress the 4 of us headed over to Liberty State Park in Jersey City~ like the place Im getting married this spot in JC has AMAZING views of NYC, the statue of liberty the verrazano bridge and more! They also have a board walk which is beautiful to take photos on! After the photos we made out way to their wedding venue which was at Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury, NJ.  I’ve posted some of my favorite photos below and you are also free to take a look at their slideshow  I LOVE the song I picked!! :)  Click here to view the slideshow  PS you can always view their slideshow and any other just by going to my website if you like to watch them all :)  ENJOY and CONGRATS to Adrienne and Sean!!

this weekend April 14, 2008

Sooo, this weekend was extremely productive!!!  I not only saw an old college room mate of mine ~ crystal.  She stopped by NYC from PA on her way to Puerto Rico… so that was fun!  Also my friend Julia and I went shopping and I managed to purchase my veil ~ an adorable, simple birdcage veil from this sweet little veil shop in the east village called Bridal Veil Falls… similar to one like THIS but not as intense…mine is VERY simple and will have a vintage pin with rhinestones attached to the back.  I also got my SHOES!!!! YAHHHH!! they are sooo cute!  They are red salsa dance shoes… and they are very comfy!  here is a photo of them!! Dance shoes are so great to wear for wedding shoes since they have suede bottoms which make them more flexible.. also a lot of the dance shoe websites have “wedding shoes” for you to purchase. I also booked my Rabbi… His name is Rabbi Berris and he is actually the director of the Interfaith Clergy We havent met with him in person since he is kind of farther away in NJ but Morgan and I spoke with him at length on the phone and we both got REALLY good vibes from him… plus he was recommended by a bunch of ladies theknot.com. LASTLY, we booked our florist!! For some reason the florist and the rabbi were the hardest for me to book!  I met with numerous people and got many a florist quote before deciding on whom to go with.  We ended up booking this florist named Academy Floral they have been around for approx. 100 years!  they are located uptown on 107th and bway.  If you are looking from a great florist go in and ask for Michelle, she is a little off-beat but REALLY sweet and very willing to work with my budget :)

Well, thats it for now!

GOT MY WEDDING DRESS! April 5, 2008

Filed under: Random, weddings — staceyilyse @ 3:16 pm

YAH!!!!!!! Yesterday my mom, her best friend Lucia and I went on our final day of dress shopping! In total we went to 5 stores… Bijou Bridal in Paramus, NJ, RK Bridal, Priscilla’s of Boston in NYC, and we went to both Kleinfelds and Bridal Reflections yesterday. We spent 2 hours at kleinfelds… found the dress that we all loved, then just to double check we went over to bridal reflections and immediately went back to kleinfelds!  We had a great experience and LOVED the saleswoman… Vivan.  They were actually filming an episode of “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC ~ which was cool.. since I have seen the show before so it was fun meeting some of the people that work at kleinfelds that I have seen on tv :)  Anyways… we decided on an Amsale gown ~ not saying which one because I dont want Morgan to see it! But check out Amsale’s gowns… they are beautiful and classic~ but with a modern feel to them.

Bloggity, blog blog blog April 2, 2008

Filed under: Random, photography related, weddings — staceyilyse @ 1:23 pm

Today is the day of random blog thoughts! I skipped a day yesterday… and that was ok, because now I have lots (well medium) of things to say!  Yesterday I had my meeting with Meredyth and Crispian who won my services via Gulnara’s free wedding photography contest  They are sooo sweet, I am really excited to shoot their wedding!  Both Meredyth and Crispian are musicians and started the trio called city winds trio here is the link to their site where you can hear some music www.citywindstrio.com .  I also met up with one of my adorable August couples, Hannah and Gary.. who are from England and just here for the week to do some wedding stuff… they will be getting married at penthouse 15                   Also yesterday I met with and booked my band for the wedding!!! I actually heard them play at Kelly and Andrew’s wedding (see photos below) and LOVED them!  I have been to many a wedding, and they were my favorite band by far! In case you are wondering they are called Bud Maltin Music Click here to go to their site   In addition to booking my band I went to RK Bridal… I went dress shopping last week with mom and we are pretty sure we have found “the dress” but like usual she wants me to go to 5 million other places and try on 5 million other dresses… I dont really have time for this stuff ~ I have too many other weddings to go to! :)  So, I went to RK Bridal… and I was slightly disappointed with stuff!  They had really great prices and all, but their selection of dresses did not have anything that was interesting and unique.  AND when I told the woman who was helping me that I absolutely did NOT want a strapless dress she huffed and rolled her eyes at me!  It immediately changed the way I felt about the place.  She then tells me… well… we really have mostly strapless dresses… so it might be hard to find you something! Well, then RK you lost my business!  Today, I plan to go to Fat-burning Pilates ~ woot woot!  Work on my clients wedding photos, working on my invitations, take monkey-dog wickett out to play, and then finally hang out with Jen Davis. Hope you all have a great day!
